 Airport
Windhoek Hosea Kutako International Airport lies 45 kilometres north-east of Windhoek. There are usually enough taxis at the airport, however, rented cars can also be taken from the airport. A second airport, the Eros Airport, lies in town. It is used for national flights.
Flight Connections
Air Namibia flies regularly, mostly daily, from Windhoek to Keetmanshoop, Walvis Bay, Katima Mulilo, Victoria Falls, Maun, Johannesburg and Cape Town.
Money
There is a currency exchange counter in the airport building while numerous banks are to be found in town. The Namibia Dollar is equal to the South African Rand in value (1:1). You will get at present 12 N$ per Euro. Means of payment: travellers' cheques, credit cards, cash.

Sights
While strolling along Independence Avenue and in the Post Mall pedestrian zone with all the cafés and restaurants, boutiques and souvenir shops, one gets a strong first impression of Namibia's capital.
 The Tintenpalast (= Ink Palace) above Robert Mugabe Avenue is the seat of both chambers of the Namibian parliament, the National Assembly and the National Council. It was built in the colonial era and was inaugurated in 1913. The locals named it Tintenpalast in allusion to the numerous scribes and scribblers and their high ink consumption. Its gardens with their expansive manicured lawns and shady trees are a popular park where Windhoek's office workers like to spend their lunch break.
 The Lutheran Christuskirche in the Neo-Romanic style stems from the year 1910. The colourful glass windows behind the altar were donated by Emperor William II. The church is open to visitors.
The "Alte Feste" ("Old Fortress") was erected in 1890, originally from unburnt clay bricks by the German Schutztruppe under the command of Curt von François. Today it is a National Museum with a large number of exhibits and documents about the cultural history of Namibia. The Alte Feste Museum is open on weekdays from 9h00 to 18h00, on weekends from 10h00 to 12h00 and from 14h00 to 18h00. No entrance fee.Tel: 061 2934362.
The OWELA Museum in Robert Mugabe Avenue is also worth a visit. It shows exhibitions on natural history and ethnology, e.g. about the Bushmen. For the children there is a "Touch Room". Open on weekdays from 9h00 to 18h00. Free entrance. Tel: (061) 2934358.
 Dining in Windhoek
Windhoek offers a great variety of restaurants from all price ranges and for any taste. If you feel like a quick and cheap meal, you'll find all the usual fast food restaurants in Windhoek, from KFC, Nando's to Steers. Restaurant recommendations:

 Daan Viljoen Game Park
The 40 sqkm nature reserve lies 24km west of Windhoek in the Khomas Highland on a dam. There are many different antelope species, giraffes and zebras to be found in the game park. Ideal for hiking. The trails are well sign-posted, e.g. the 9km long Bushwillow Trail or the 3km long Buffalo Thorn Trail. The restcamp includes a restaurant, accommodation in bungalows and a campground.
